Newcastle United started their preseason at Benton Training Ground with three signings, Demba Ba form West Ham, Sylvain Marveux from Rennes and Yohann Cabaye from Lille.

This Tuesday the toons travelled to the USA to play 3 friendlies vs american teams. Joey Barton wasn't given the visa because of his past, so he stayed in Newcastel training by itself, he should train again with the rest of the team during the Asian tour.

Barton is a terrible example to all toon kids.He should have been sacked long ago,like Wigan did with a striker who ended in jail after he assaulted a woman three seasons ago.

However he has changed, and like in 2 years he has not been involved in fights and he has played at a high level regularly.

Joey Barton is a thug, no doubt about it. In a way he has lost his chance at an international career because of it though, at city he was a massive talent but his off the field antics made him so hard to deal with. Yes at Newcastle he has now seen to change his ways but if im honest i could see him doing something radiculous again. Many footballers are idiots, i dont think Barton can be singled out when the game is full of pathetic excuses for role models!! Just my opinion of course haha

jordclarke14 this player has been a thug for many years.Footballers have a social duty to society who sees them as role models for children who support a particular club.Here this player has been awful deserving to be banned from playing at professional level.

Many of the kids only watch his football, and he does that really well, the off field affairs are not so important for the kids i thinks its worst a cyclist that takes performance enhancing drugs. This is worst than a great player that has off field violent affairs but as isaid before this is only my opinion, the opinion of a geordie boy.

I agree with you Lancastrian that he is a bad role model and has always been a thug but you cant ban him from playing really, the cheating that players do on their wives is also bad and makes them terrible role models but you couldnt ban them either! Hes a good player that doesnt deserve his wage, his shiny cars, his big house or his whole lifestyle but hes gifted as a footballer luckily for him, simple as that.

I am talking about a player committing a violent crime which is usually punished with a prison sentence which being a bad husband is not.Come on your comparison is not valid!.

He GAV already payed for it , now he should be treated like a normal person, we should give people the chance to change!!

Again, i agree with you Lancastrain i didnt mean to translate it as a comparision i was just trying to suggest that many footballers nowadays do many stupid things and they all get away with it due to who they are which is not on. Trust me, i'm a city fan and dont like Joey Barton at all so i dont mean to totally defend him...just saying that a majority of footballers are d**ks in the modern game but just specifically slating one doesnt seem that fair. I'm sure Nile Ranger didnt get a visa either, wasnt that due to similar circumstances?

Dave Wheelan rightly sacked Marlon KIng as a Latics player after he was jailed for assaulting a woman at a night club.Newcastle should have done the same with Dunn and it did not do show so the club image with the public was blackened.It will take a long time to clean it.

yeah thats fair enough, fair play to whelan for doing it and he definately did deserve it as barton probably did. Fact remains King still came out rosey, finished his prison sentance and got a cushty contract elsewhere, by and large footballers (powerful/rich people) get away with ten times what most normal folk do!
