I have been following the "Latics" for 4 seasons so far.I admire what Whelan has achieved since he bought this club in 1995.He has taken it from Division Three to the Premier League in 10 years. The Chairman was a professional footballer who played for Blackburn Rovers reaching the FA Cup Final in 1960 losing 0-3 to Wolverhampton Wanderers. He is a man of football. It is no surprise that when he bought the club he transformed it around, laid the foundations of a professional structure, which it has lacked since its birth enabling the club to win 3 promotions in 10 years.Levante UD managers would be wise to follow the example of Wigan Athletic to establish the club in the top flight of Spanish football for once and all.
