Levante officially took the Caicedo´s buy-clause into effect at the end of May. So his rights officially belong to Levante. I´m sure Manchester City was not going to publicize the sale. Levante will pay the approximately 1 million euros in installments over the coming year(s). Levante definitely do need the money that his future sale will undoubtedly produce. The deal to send Caicedo to Russian outfit Lokomotiv would bring in the kind of cash that can really make a difference for our club´s debt payments.
As far as a replacement, I would not expect anything soon, unfortunately. Caicedo´s Russian move is not official yet, as Levante are waiting to see about guarantees the Russians will come good on the money promised. Assuming there is no obstacle there, the sale can proceed, as Caicedo seems to be okay with the move which would give him a huge salary increase and the possibility of playing in major european competitions. Levante will probably wait for the transfer market to wind down to make a move. If the club waits, there is a chance that another "Caicedo" could come late in the transfer window and at a reasonable price.
The club is rumored to be very interested in recovering Javi Guerra, who had a big year at Valladolid in Spanish 2nd Division. He played for Levante on-loan from Mallorca the year before before moving to Valladolid. His price-tag is the only inconvienence, as he will have plenty of european teams wanting to sign him and Levante cannot afford to enter a bidding war. However, the player has a great past here and enjoyed one of his best seasons in the maroon and blue, so I wouldn´t be surprised at all if he pushed Valladolid to let him stay in Spain and return to Levante. Let´s hope!
The only other rumored striker was Toché who ended up signing with a Greek club. He didn´t want to take a salary cut to play for Levante.
